Decidi criar essa p\u00e1gina para postar d\u00favidas que tive ou tenho nos livros que estou lendo. Nesse momento da decis\u00e3o estava no finalzinho do livro de Steven Erikson Gardens of the moon<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Breaking the wind<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Bom, “breaking the wind” \u00e9 um termo que encontrei bem no final do livro e logicamente que n\u00e3o entendi nadica de nada do seu significado. Segue trecho do livro:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rallick removed his mask and tossed it on to the carpeted stairs. He looked upon Turban Orr with flat, dark eyes. ‘Done breaking wind, Councilman?<\/strong>‘<\/p>Gardens of the Moon – Malazan Book of the Fallen<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Pesquisando no google encontrei o site writingexplained.org<\/a> explicando que “breaking the wind” quer dizer soltar pum ou peidar \ud83d\ude42 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

E esse significado faz todo sentido no livro, visto que o personagem Turban Orr estava falando muito e Rallic acaba perguntando se ele j\u00e1 terminou com toda aquela fal\u00e1cia ou de soltar pum(breaking the wind)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uma outra frase que encontrei e que me deixou confuso foi “man who had borne Mammot’s face”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Como posso interpretar a parte em negrito? the man who had borne Mammot’s face??? o que significa “had borne Mamott’s face<\/strong>“? o que \u00e9 “had borne<\/strong>“
Logicamente que deduzi que essa frase seria interpretada como algo do tipo: “Na cabe\u00e7a do jovem uma voz distante e est\u00e1vel dizia que o homem que tinha o rosto de Mamott n\u00e3o era o homem que ele(o jovem) tinha conhecido durante toda a sua vida”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minha interpreta\u00e7\u00e3o fica mais pr\u00f3xima de uma interpreta\u00e7\u00e3o exata uma que junto as pe\u00e7as do que est\u00e1 ocorrendo nessa p\u00e1gina do livro: O Jovem \u00e9 Crokus e o seu tio est\u00e1 possu\u00eddo por uma entidade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

e Claimed by the roots<\/strong>? bom, \u00e9 outro termo confuso n\u00e3o somente para mim. Enviei essa d\u00favida para algumas pessoas em um grupo do facebook todos responderam que “Claimed by the roots<\/strong>” n\u00e3o \u00e9 algo comum em ingl\u00eas :<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Segue alguns coment\u00e1rios:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elder Rodri I think, in this scenario, ‘claimed by the roots’ is a way of explaining that the entity that had pretended to be Uncle Mammot had been dead and buried for a long time. When you bury someone, their body rots away into the soil and sometimes the roots of grass\/plants\/trees might reach the body and entangle it. It’s not a common phrase I’ve come across but that’s what I’d take it to mean.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
